Well done to Tshala Kabala, undoubtedly in his best shape yet, he got all the first places in the Overall. Tshala has improved gradually over the years, slowly improving his legs to bring them up with his incredible upper body! His tapered physique with wide shoulders, mini-waist and washboard abs stood out when on-stage and his muscle fullness and separation, complete with superb condition, made him an outstanding Overall Champion. Runner-up in the Overall and Novice Champion Tim Nunan was big, very thickly muscled, and had superb balance and condition, a very good competitive debut. John Swaby was back to his biggest and best to take the Masters; John sometimes comes in too light, but not today. He had a great battle for the Masters’ title with Brian Wellman, both in superb shape. Dale Wilson was in incredible condition to take the Lightweights, Dale got 4th in the Overall. Heavyweight Champion Ben Woodhart got 5th, after a battle royal with Carlos Barradas in the heavies. Ben has fantastic arms, great abs too, and like all the other class winners he was in excellent condition.

For the Ladies, there was a shock in the Physique class with Unni Plant in amazing shape to beat 3 time Britain winner Carol Streeter, and UK Champion Lesley Haswell. Unni was quite emotional on her deserved victory, and she was clearly in her best ever shape. In a fabulous class of 9 Trained Figure girls, Danielle Chambers dominated the class in superb shape, pushed all the way by Hannah Bryant.

Judges were, Lee Kemp, Helder Barroso, Ann Gardner, Karen Mason, and Michael Phillips.

Drug testing was conducted by Lee Kemp, Chief Doping Control Officer of the NPA.

Guest poser was Karen Mason, ANB British Ladies Physique Champion 1999, who gave a dramatic and polished posing routine, well received by the audience. Karen will be competing in America this November in the WNBF Pro World Championships.

Many thanks to all the class sponsors: Fivos Averkiou;  Health & Strength magazine; Body-Zone Gym;  Fox Mouldings Ltd;  Boditronics;  Stuart Mackay & Carbs and Whey company.

Another successful South East show for the NPA. Many thanks to all who attended, and a particular big Thank You to Tony Montalbano for all his efforts over the last 6 years promoting the competition.
